This theme was developed after searching the web for a suitable free portfolio theme. I found a great theme at Graph Paper Press called Workaholic. The theme was simple and well thought out. I needed a clean, compliant base from which to develop my idea and workaholic fitted the bill.
Lets start with whats different about WorkBase as a child theme; apart from the obvious colour theme changes and better graphics for things like the twitter icon and the next and previous buttons, the main changes are:
- Intro text heading and sub head is now directly editable as a widget. The original theme required editing the core php file.
- Logo to replace the blog title text. CSS hiding means the title text is still there for SEO and screen readers.
- Replaced the stock image gallery viewer with my own custom version of JonDesigns Smooth Gallery plugin. This is a much better image viewer which allows thunbnails to be generated on the fly, fully editable by the user and doesn’t rely on Flash.
- Included a simple, spam proof contact form.
What I’ve ended up with is a solid, clean and easy to use portfolio and blogging theme. Props must go to the original developers at Graph Paper Press.
Custom Design and Installation
The flexibility offered by WorkBase means it can be customised visually to fit in with your existing brand, or personal style. I also offer a full service, including Logo Design and Branding – for those who need to start fresh or don’t have an existing brand style.

A good starting point is having a well written brief outlining what you want visually from your site; any existing style, colours or logo’s you want to incorporate, or if you need me to design your logo. Because WorkBase uses WordPress, you will be in charge of all your content. This will be much cheaper then having someone else create and edit the content for you.
